Destiny 2 is getting gamers into the spirit of the season with their new holiday event ‘The Dawning’. Wintery weather and decorations will be showing up in social spaces like the Tower, but the event is also full of new content and events for Guardians to explore.
The event sees Mayhem mode back in the Crucible. This fan-favorite match type from the original Destiny means player’s abilities recharge faster than usual and point values are are boosted for fast paced and brutal gameplay. According to Bungie “it’s anarchy – and it’s awesome.”
Anyone feeling generous can pick up a Dawning Gift Schematic at the Bazaar. Travel the solar system to complete the gift and exchange it with your favorite NPC. They will be happy to give you a gift in return. Player can also use a brand new consumable to share rewards earned with their friends and “participate in the season of giving every day of the event.”
Throughout the Dawning, completing weekly milestones will earn players a special Dawning engram and a chance to earn some new content exclusive to the event. Ships, sparrows, ghosts, emotes and armor will all be available. Of course if you have your eye on something specific, make sure to talk to Tess, one of the vendors at the Tower, each week during the event. Bungie promises that all of the Dawning themed exotics will be on sale with her at some point during the event – for the right amount of Bright Dust.
And if all of that’s not enough, Guardians can now engage in a bit of well earned fun and start a snowball fight. Hurl snowballs at friends at The Tower or The Farm, or use them to stun enemies during a strike. Just keep an eye out for snow piles and arm yourself well.
The Dawning begins on December 19th and will end on January 9th, so be sure to make the best of the limited time. Check out Bungie’s full announcement for more details.
