Destiny 2 Has Reached 1.2 Concurrent Million Users

Developer Bungie has recently reported via a Twitter post that their newly released sequel Destiny 2 has reached over 1.2 million concurrent users on September 10. This number is the total between the Xbox One and Playstation 4 player bases.

Destiny 2’s servers have had a few issues due to the large number of players online but the game has been relatively stable for the most part. In order to compensate for the large influx of players, and ensure that the servers can function properly Bungie introduced server queues which in turn caused some players in certain regions to have a brief wait before they were able to sign in.

The concurrent player amount for any game will always be lower than any specific sales number due to the fact that it is simply impossible for everyone who possess the game to playing it at the exact same time. But reaching this notable feat can be compared alongside with popular title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. While still in early access the PC game has recently passed 1 million concurrent players for the first time.

Neither Bungie nor Activision have released any official sales numbers as of yet, but Bungie did state that the new game welcomed “millions” of players just a couple days after it’s release. It is undoubted that Destiny 2’s player base will continue to grow since the PC version isn’t even scheduled to release until October. Destiny 2 is now available for Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The PC version of the game will be release next month on October 24 and will be available by way of Blizzards Battle.net service.
