Demons Ate My Neighbor’s Release Will Pay Homage to Classic Game Next Year

As a twin-stick shooter that is coming to both PC and Switch, Demons Ate My Neighbor is set to pay homage to the vintage classic Zombies Ate My Neighbor. With its release date set sometime in Q3 for 2021, this game is not an official sequel to its predecessor. Tuned-Out Games and HumaNature Studios have also announced future Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of this game through Kickstarter (that will be launched on September 1st).

Demons Ate My Neighbor is set to take place in 1991, and follow two kids named April and Joey as they need to save their neighborhood from demons. With the origin of the demons being from a cursed VHS tape, the duo must defend themselves with squirt guns while the players engage with each other in a local co-op fashion. Another feature of the game includes procedurally-generated levels that involve the characters using their “RadWatch” to find more survivors as the levels get higher.

The game that Demons Ate My Neighbor is paying homage to (titled Zombies Ate My Neighbor) is reaching it’s 30th anniversary this year. As it was originally playable on NES, this impactful title has fans already rallying behind this future title with their money ready to support this new campy horror style tribute. Turned-Out Games has officially released a trailer for the game on their Youtube but otherwise has kept pretty silent about any details relating to Demons Ate My Neighbor.

As stated before, a Kickstarter will be launched for this title on September 1st to help with developing the game on other consoles. Along with this, the money will also be used to go towards making more monsters, characters, and levels available in the game as well. There’s even as much as hints towards making the game available to play with others online in the list of long-anticipated bells and whistles.
