Deliver Us The Moon: Fortuna Takes One Giant Leap

The still young Dutch studio, KeokeN Interactive, released Deliver Us The Moon: Fortuna this past Friday. The studio ran a very successful Kickstarter campaign to finish the realistic space adventure story that’s set in the near future where an apocalyptic theme of world crisis has emerged. The Earth’s natural resources have nearly depleted so the world’s nations formed an organization to harvest a new energy source on the moon. Things do not go quite as planned when all communication is lost between the Earth and the organization’s moon operations.

The player will take the role of “the Earth’s last astronaut.” Along with a trusty artificial intelligence companion, players will traverse the moon and the former structures of the World Space Agency. What happened to operations there and why is the moon suddenly abandoned? Answer these questions by investigating and discovering leftover clues as to the secrets of the former colony. Battle not only the environmental hazards, but the puzzles that hinder the mission. Management of oxygen supplies and the failing base’s systems are vital to survival and success. Exploration comes either by floating like a feather on the surface, driving a high-tech roamer, or using the monorail. The gaming industry has experienced many variations of future space narrative, but not so many about the future that is not so far away from today. It will be interesting to see what kind of community forms around this title.

KeokeN Interactive announced the day after its release, that Deliver Us The Moon: Fortuna will be sending owners of the game a free DLC that will wrap up unanswered questions to the main storyline. The release date is unknown at this time, though it is in development and the studio has shared an interest in bringing the complete title to other gaming platforms. The title is on a miniature European “tour” in the beginning of October at the Firstlook Festival in The Netherlands and MAG in Germany.

Deliver Us The Moon: Fortuna is available for PC on the Steam store.
