At WWDC 2023 for the Mac and later during the launch of iPhone 15, Apple showcased that Death Stranding Director’s Cut would be playable on their devices. The game was initially slated to release before the year’s end, but the developers, 505 Games, recently announced on Twitter that they require additional time.
There are rumors that a release date announcement may happen early in 2024. The occurrence of delays in the release dates of games often signifies that developers find the necessity for additional time to enhance and refine the overall quality of the gaming experience.
Particularly during the festive holiday season, the decision to postpone Death Stranding’s launch until 2024 probably serves to mitigate potential crunch situations but also affords the dedicated developers the invaluable opportunity to allocate time for personal engagements, enabling them to cherish moments with friends and family members.
Death Stranding made its debut as a PlayStation 4 exclusive back in 2019 and was directed by Hideo Kojima. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players take on the character of Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus. The game revolves around Sam’s mission to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society, highlighting the themes of connection and isolation.
Players need to navigate through challenging terrain, manage resources, and engage in both cooperative and solitary gameplay. The storyline is complex, incorporating elements of science fiction and exploring philosophical concepts, making it a unique and thought-provoking gaming experience. Death Stranding stands out as a game with a niche appeal, not universally designed for every gamer, yet it gained sufficient popularity to warrant the release of The Director’s Cut edition in 2021.
Upon release, Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be available for play on iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. Priced at $40, Death Stranding joins the ranks of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, which made their debut on iPhone 15 Pro earlier this year.
