Death Stranding, Bayonetta 3, Soulcalibur VI, Sea of Thieves, and More Get Trailers at Game Awards 2017

The Game Awards 2017 was exhilarating, celebrating the achievements that the industry has offered over the course of 2017. As well as awarding these achievements, gamers got a sneak peak into what the next year has in store for them.

Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima’s current project, has been shrouded in an enigma since its announcement. At the Game Awards, fans were treated to not only 8 minutes of the world of Death Stranding, but the longest trailer ever in Game Awards History. Although the game still does not have a launch date, it is expected to be on the PlayStation 4.

Bayonetta 3, the hack-n-slash from Platinum Games, got some love in the form of an announcement trailer. Not much happens in the trailer, but it has been revealed that Bayonetta 3 will be in development exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. In addition, Bayonetta 1 and 2 are both being ported onto the Nintendo Switch, and the port will be available February 16th, 2018.

Soulcalibur VI, the next entry into the 3D fighter series, showed off old characters, Sophitia and Mitsurugi, fighting amongst each other, as well as some other mysterious imagery. The game is expected sometime in 2018, and it will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Sea of Thieves, the pirate action-adventure game, got a small trailer to show off more combat, customization, and exploration, but most importantly, it revealed its launch date. The trailer also showed the game’s pre-order bonuses, with them being the Black Dog Pack, a set of black and green accessories for a player’s character, and access to the Sea of Thieves closed beta. Sea of Thieves will hit stores exclusively for the Xbox One on March 20th, 2018.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the ever-popular open-world RPG, and winner of the Game of the Year award, will be getting another DLC pack entitled The Champion’s Ballad. It will introduce a new side-story, new characters, puzzles, quests, new spaces for the player to explore, and a motorcycle for Link to ride. You heard it right, a motorcycle. The DLC pack has already launched, and is available for purchase.

Last but not least, FromSoftware, creators of Bloodborne and the Souls series, announced that they are working on a new project. This last trailer is the most cryptic of them all, with odd imagery and the phrase, “Shadows Die Twice,” being the only takeaways from the announcement.

Other things gaming related that were featured at the Game Awards 2017 were: The Witchfire teaser, the Vacation Simulator teaser, the Valley of Gods announcement trailer, the Fade to Silence announcement trailer, the World War Z reveal trailer, An A Way Out character trailer, a GTFO gameplay trailer, a Metro Exodus trailer, a Dreams trailer, an updated PUBG gameplay trailer, the Accounting+ on PSVR announcement, the Fortnite Battle Royale‘s 50 vs 50 announcement, and Bethesda’s #SavePlayer1 video.

The show can be viewed here in its entirety. Here’s to hoping next year will be even more explosive for gaming!
