Death Stranding 2 released last summer in 2025 to critical acclaim and to the delight of Hideo Kojima acolytes. It was broadly lauded as masterful sequel to the first game; smoothing out its rough edges and amping up the fun it had to offer while doubling down on the eccentric world that made Death Stranding so unique. However, for those of whom who didn’t have a PS5, the greatness of the game was out of reach. But that won’t be the case for much longer, as the PC port of DS2 will emerge over the horizon in the latter half of March this year. It was officially announced only a couple of weeks ago, but PC users had yet to receive any news about the requirements to run the game on their devices. Until today, that is, as developers Kojima Productions and Nixxes have released their PC specification recommendations to prepare for launch.
As seen in the chart above, although the specs listed are certainly not nothing, DS2 ought to run perfectly well on a mid-budget build. Really, the only standout requirement here is the 150GB storage space needed to install it, though unfortunately large sizes like that are sort of the norm with big-budget games nowadays. Unless you’re building a PC from scratch for this–in which case prepare to spend hundreds of dollars on RAM due to shortages caused by AI buyups–otherwise these are very reasonable hardware asks. But even if you don’t have a standalone gaming PC setup, they’ve also preemptively made a preset (not shown above) for “portable” play–so Steam Deck users should be able to have fun with this right out of the box without having to wait for a performance update. Instead of 505 Games, this time around the port was handled by Nixxes, who have a track record of doing a great job moving some of the biggest releases on Playstation over to PC, like Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West, and Spider Man. Hopefully that translates to a great experience if you didn’t get the chance to try out Death Stranding 2 last year.
