Polish developer The Farm 51, known for games such as NecroVisioN and Time Ace, announced plans to bring their most recent game, Deadfall Adventures: Heart of Atlantis, to the Playstation 3 on their official website. Deadfall Adventures is first-person shooter with heavy emphasis on storytelling and puzzle solving elements first released for Windows and Linux PCs as well as the Xbox 360 in November 2013. The game launched to lukewarm reviews, with most critics citing a lack of innovative gameplay and repetitive puzzles as major flaws, however The Farm 51 has a number of upgrades planned for the PS3 edition aimed at addressing some of the game’s weaknesses.
Deadfall Adventures: Heart of Atlantis puts the player in the role of a world renowned adventurer and treasure hunter whose search for the mythical Heart of Atlantis sends him on a journey across the globe. While the game is a first-person shooter and does include plenty of action sequences, its main selling points are the role-playing and puzzle-solving aspects mixed in with the traditional shooter combat.
The Playstation 3 edition of Heart of Atlantis includes a significant amount of additional content not available to Xbox 360 and PC users, including improved textures, additional levels with new boss fights, an expanded and streamlined leveling system, as well as an in-game notepad to record information about puzzles and enemies. In addition to exclusive content, the PS3 edition will launch with all the DLC currently available for older versions of the game. The Farm 51’s official announcement also makes vague promises of “fully upgraded gameplay,” although what specifically that might entail and whether or not it will satisfy critics of the original title aren’t yet clear.
In addition to the PS3 release of Darkfall, The Farm 51 is also planning to launch a first-person shooter known as Get Even on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2015. While the studio promises that the title will “bring a modern multi-tiered approach,” to the genre, information regarding their plans for the upcoming title remains scarce.
