Dead Island 2 has finally been completed according to game developer Dambuster Studios. The highly anticipated zombie game was first announced in 2014 under the German game developer Yager and after numerous delays, was passed off to Sumo Digital and finally Dambuster Studios in 2019. Dead Island 2’s developers made the announcement early February 13, 2023 on the game’s official Twitter account, confirming that the game went gold and would be releasing a week early.
“You asked for it, you got it.” said the developer. “Dead Island 2 went gold and it’s coming out a week early.”

The Dead Island sequel is no stranger to delays. When it finally found itself with its latest developer Dambuster Studios in 2022 seemed to finally have found its vision. That said, it didn’t stop the development from having further delays, specifically when the game was pushed back to April 28 from its original February 3 release date. Now that the game has gone gold, it will finally be released ahead of schedule, barring no further complications.
Set in a bloody Los Angeles under military quarantine, the player and five other characters must traverse this new world, survive and become the ultimate Zombie Slayer. The game is set to launch on April 21, much earlier than most expected, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store.
