Dead Cells has been in Early Access for a little over a year now, receiving high praise from the PC gaming community for its roguelike Metroidvania gameplay. With it’s side scrolling and brain scrambling gameplay, Dead Cells has cemented itself as stalwart of the genre. Now, it appears that we’ll be getting a physical edition of the game and a nifty looking Signature Edition to boot. Announced by Merge Games earlier today, it was revealed that Dead Cells will be releasing physically on August 17, 2018.
In addition to Windows and Mac, Dead Cells will also be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Merge Games recently announced that they have partnered with Motion Twin, the developer of Dead Cells, to bring the game to the consoles. Motion Twin has not stated if this will in fact bring the game out of Early Access or not, but with the physical editions looming, its a safe bet that this will be the official release.
Those who pick up the standard edition will also receive a 20-page art book, and it will be priced at $34.99. The Signature Edition will be limited to 2000 copies, which will include the physical game, a double CD digipack soundtrack, an exclusive enemel character pin, a fifty six page hardback art book, a certificate of authenticity that is numbered with Motion Twin autographs, and an embossed outer box featuring exclusive artwork and will retail for $50.
It’s important to note that Merge Games and Signature Games are based out of the United Kingdom, so therefore, you will be importing the Signature Edition from them if you choose to buy it. You can pre-order the Signature Edition here.
