The popular multiplayer horror game, Dead by Daylight, is currently undergoing a massive graphic overhaul. Dead by Deadlight has been out for a number of years as it released in 2016, but the developers have continued to release updates keeping the gameplay fresh and new. However, this next update will be the largest the game has seen so far.

This upcoming major update, dubbed as The Realm Beyond, is going to update all the graphics in order to implement new visual changes to bring it up to date with the new consoles and hardware. This includes everything from revamping 21 maps, the characters, the objects within the maps, and more. In the update trailer embedded below, the visual changes brought to the different maps can be observed clearly. The new changes make the game more atmospheric with improved lighting and facial animations and have added new objects to help the survivors out as they attempt to survive the killer.
Also included in this update is colorblind support. There are three main colorblind settings for players to consider multiple types of colorblindness: deuteranope, protanope, and tritanope. This support will help players navigate the game’s UI and make the game that much more accessible. The changes can be observed in the more recent development diary that was uploaded on the official Dead by Daylight YouTube Channel.
While there has not been a release date announced for The Realm Behind update, the developers have said they are about halfway through as of right now and we can possibly expect the update to come in the Fall of 2021. Until then, Dead by Daylight is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC for $19.99.
