Dead by Daylight has released a teaser for the upcoming new killer and survivors in a new DLC that will be called Tools for Torment. However, the developers leaked the names of the upcoming killer and two survivors themselves in the tags underneath the teaser. The tags that appeared under the teaser video were “Dead by Daylight, dbd, behavior interactive, BHVR, slasher game, survival horror, The Skull Merchant, Thalita Lyra, Renato Lyra, and Tools of Torment.”
The new killer appears to be called the Skull Merchant and has already spawned a variety of memes that can be found floating around Reddit. It is speculated that this hero is an original character created by the developers, Behavior Interactive, rather than a licensed character taken from another franchise. The new survivors complementing this killer are named Renato Lyra and Thalita Lyra. Twitter user dvveet looked through the game files and confirmed that these are the two new survivors. In addition to the new killers, the developers are adding a box interaction. The box can either be an interaction between the killer and survivor or for the map.
The teaser for the new chapter didn’t reveal much, but it did include a glowing skull on a workstation. A black folder next to the blueprints of the skull shares a symbol; the same as the one on the interactable box that would be in the map as part of the killer’s kit.
The Public Test Build (PTB) will also be available starting on February 15, as well as more information about the DLC itself. During the PTB, the community will find out what abilities the new killer will have, as well as the new perks for both the killer and survivors that will be able to be shared across other characters. Players will be able to access the PTB through the Betas tab in the properties section of the game only on Steam.
