Days Gone released earlier this year in April, and developer Bend Studio had promised future updates and DLC before the game even launched. Making good on the promise, the studio released the first round of updates which brought the Survival difficulty mode and weekly challenges to the game. Players could now fight much tougher enemies, and complete combat, horde, and bike challenges to unlock rewards such as bike and character skins, and rings. Announced via the PlayStation blog earlier today, Days Gone is slated to receive another round of updates on September 13.
The new update will bring another mode to the game, called New Game Plus, which the post noted has been the most requested feature since the game’s launch. The new mode will allow players to play the game again, this time keeping earned weapons and updates. “Players can now re-experience the epic journey through Days Gone, this time with the advantage of previously earned weapons, bike upgrades, NERO boosters, skills, recipes, encampment trust and credits, collectibles, and trophy progress unlocked from the beginning,” reads the post. The mode can be started from any save file where the “I’m Never Giving Up” storyline has been completed. New Game Plus will be playable in any difficulty mode, including the two new ones, Hard II and Survival II.
In addition to the new game mode, new trophies will be added to the game, earnable in New Game Plus, Hard II, and Survival II. A new super-secret weapon was also teased in the post. The post states that players can get the “mysterious new weapon from an agent that only operates in the shadows,” but did not reveal much else about it. Finally, an upcoming vinyl soundtrack of the game’s music will be released and can be pre-ordered starting September 11 on the Mondo website.
Days Gone is available now on PS4, and the newest downloadable update is set for release on September 13.
