The two main characters of this game will include David Harbour (of Stranger Things and Black Widow fame) playing Detective Edward Carnby, as well as Jodi Comer (of Free Guy and Killing Eve fame) playing Emily Hartwood according to Polygon. This remake of Alone in the Dark is set to release on the PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X on October 25, 2023.

Developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic, this remake of Alone in the Dark will have collaborations from many hardcore fans of the original game and well known figures such as Makael Hedberg, who wrote for horror games such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA and creature designs from Guillermo Del Toro according to a blog written by PlayStation.

The main characters must overcome many physical and mental challenges along the way, using puzzles and more in depth story elements to delve into their pasts and solve the mysterious death of Jeremy Hartwood.

Some of the major changes to this game for new players will be in the overall experience. With massive graphical updates and voice acting to help immerse the players more into the game.

While players wait for the game to release, the Alone in the Dark team has released a playable Prologue for those who are itching to play. PlayStation’s blog explains the basic premise behind the game by saying:

The Prologue follows eleven-year-old Grace Saunders, who eagle-eyed fans may recognize from Alone in the Dark 2 and its own playable prequel, Jack in the Dark. Tasked with delivering the letter that will bring Emily to Derceto, you’ll get a first look inside the manor and the forces preying on its residents’ sanity. Simply visit the store to download.

The full version of the game will be out on October 25 of this year, with additional content for the game potentially on the horizon.
