Indie Game Developer Studio from Warsaw, Poland, Acid Wizard Studio, has come back after a year of crowdfunding on Indiegogo and has released a new teaser trailer before the Steam Early Access release of Darkwood, which mentions that it is ‘coming soon’. This survival horror game that mixes between RPG, roguelike elements and involves free roam exploration.
Darkwood not only involves survival and exploration but also involves fear while you are exploring in the randomly generated mysterious woods that is in the territory of the Soviet Bloc. The mysterious woods forces you to watch your back, where your sight, sense of smell, and other senses are fooled by Darkwood’s surreal terrors. You must find the truth that is hidden to find out what happened to this mysterious place. Every action and choice that you take will impact how the story is played out.
During the day, you need to find materials and weapons, discover secrets, and also decide on whether to talk, trade or kill the various NPCs of Darkwood. Though by night, you will need to find safety and barricade yourself or defend yourself from the horrors that roam the dark in the woods.
The developer told Eurogamer, the game would arrive on Early Access “probably in May,” but that it “couldn’t confirm this 100 percent.” They mentioned that it’s “gonna try to support Mac and Linux from the start of Early Access, but it’s likely that we will have to add that in a update further down the road.”
On the Steam Early Access page for the game, it describes where the game is currently at in the work-in-progress build:
“The current version of the game is very playable, with most of the core features implemented, but a lot of stuff is still to come. The game is divided into chapters, and currently you can play through the first one. We’re still in development though, so there WILL be bugs, missing features, and a general lack of balance and polish.”
