Danger Zone is the Spiritual Successor to Burnout 3’s Crash Mode

Developer Three Fields Entertainment has announced their next game, a 3D vehicular-destruction game called Danger Zone that hearkens back to the beloved “Crash Mode” of 2004’s Burnout 3.

Danger Zone will be the third game from Three Fields Entertainment, an independent UK games studio founded by Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward, original co-founders of Criterion Games, which was responsible for creating Burnout 3.  Three Fields’ previous game, Dangerous Golf, seemed to draw some inspiration from Burnout with its emphasis on slo-mo controlled destruction, but Danger Zone looks to really return to form.  Sperry had this to say on the new game:

We are going back to our roots by creating a game in a genre we are truly passionate about.  Danger Zone takes what made the Crash Mode featured in 2004’s Burnout 3: Takedown so popular and transforms it into an all-new car-crashing, arcade-style game. We look forward to engaging those same fans by delivering an entirely new and extremely fun experience.”

Danger Zone is powered by the Unreal Engine, combining physics-based crashes and flashy explosions with a game mechanic called the “Smashbreaker” that allows players to control their wreck through the crash and explode at a specific time, keeping combos alive and wreaking even more havoc.  The game will feature 20 unique crash-testing scenarios for players to smash through, as well as a connected leaderboard to compare your top scores against other players all over the world.

Danger Zone will be available for digital download next month for $12.99, playable on the PlayStation 4 and for PC via the Steam Store.
