The first thing we see her do is guard break.
Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners makes her debut as the first guest character in Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear: Strive; the latest and last character for their 4th season of DLC joining Venom, Ulrika, and Dizzy.

As an outsider to the Guilty Gear universe, obviously Lucy brings her own unique style to combat. Taking a lot of cues from Edgerunners as well as CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 which inspired it, Lucy comes equipped with the toolset of a Netrunner which includes a generic Unity pistol, monowires, and probably most notably quickhacks. The quickhack screen pops up for Lucy mid combo and pauses the game for what I can only assume will be the ability to apply different effects to your opponent and perhaps apply different combo routes. We know for sure how she works until the character guide drops but she’s certainly unique gameplay-wise compared to the other characters, which is saying something because most Arc System Works characters are unique in their own right as well.
As for how and why Lucy is there, I wouldn’t think too hard about it. She’s a crossover character, so it was always going to be a bit contrived. From what we can see in the trailer Lucy is lost while netrunning and just happens to pop in to the Guilty Gear universe, looking for someone, likely David the protagonist of Edgerunners.
Lucy’s netrunning abilities were probably the reason she was chosen as the Cyberpunk guest character, since she’s the only one who can somewhat justify showing up in an alternate world, and V from 2077 is a bit too customizable to be made available in a guest slot and Adam Smasher isn’t quite as pretty as Lucy.
Still, using “I Really Want to Stay at Your House” as Lucy’s leitmotif is a bit of a gut punch, but hopefully it’s remixed and not just taken straight from 2077 to here. I know guest characters are a bit of a contentious topic at best right now in the fighting game community, but Strive is on its way out and a surprise guest appearance as the game is leaving shouldn’t harm too much, even if it takes away from some fan favorites that many would have preferred to return.
Lucy will be making her debut in Guilty Gear: Strive this month on August 21st, 2025.
