Apple has been preparing to annouce new hardware this week and CD Projekt have added to the hype by announcing that their hit, Cyberpunk 2077, will be available on Mac “early next year” after posting an announcement on their website today.
Cyberpunk 2077 and its spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty will be coming to Mac. Taking full advantage of Apple silicon and advanced technologies of Metal, the world of the dark future is available to Mac gamers for the very first time. Players can enjoy advanced features like path tracing, frame generation, and built-in Spatial Audio for even more immersive gameplay and stunning visuals.
Available early next year on Macs with Apple silicon, the Ultimate Edition will launch on the Mac App Store, GOG.com, Steam and Epic Games Store.
Cyberpunk 2077 has had an interesting run since its initial release in December of 2020. After spending 8 years under development, the game was released with many bugs and issues that saw fans criticizing the game in dismay after their long wait. Even after a getting good grade of a 90 on Metacritic, fans reviewed extremely poorly, rating it on PS4 at 1.9 and Xbox One at a 2.3 while PC sat at a 6.0. However, CD Projekt didn’t lay down a let their game die. Instead, they continued to update and improve the game over the course of the next few years and now has sold around 25 million copies, as well as their DLC, Phantom Liberty, selling an additional 5 million copies since it’s release in September of 2023. The game now sits at an 86 on Metacritic with Phantom Liberty siting at an 89.
The new Mac Pro’s being announced will have M4 Base, Pro, or Max chips that allows up a 14-core CPU and a 20-core GPU as well as having either 4 or 5 Thunderbolt ports depending on the model. All other hardware is expected to be announced sometime this week.
