Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course Has Already Sold More Than 1 Million Copies

Well, it didn’t take long for the fans to let Studio MDHR how they felt about Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. The long awaited expansion finally released this past month on June 30, and for the most part has been critically acclaimed. The studio emphasized this as they have revealed that The Delicious Last Course has already sold more than 1 million units worldwide, which is only made even more impressive since it launched on June 30, less than two weeks ago.

Studio MDHR Director and Executive Producer Maja Moldenhauer stated that the expansion achieved this feat even faster than the base game. “This marks an even quicker timeline than it took for the original game to achieve this momentous feat, and we are just beside ourselves with joy and appreciation.” Moldenhauer then goes onto thank the fans for their unyielding support and patience for The Delicious Last Course, as the DLC did take a few years to eventually release. “These words certainly do not encompass how grateful we are, but to the amazing Cuphead players worldwide we say nonetheless: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

If anything it’s a testament to the staying power of the Cuphead fanbase, which has persevered through the expansions trials and tribulations and eventually made it to the release. That fanbase, which was firmly established when the game originally launched in 2017 and took the industry by storm, has more than likely been a major factor for Studio MDHR, bolstering their efforts and making it through the world wide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic to launch a successful new experience.

To celebrate this moment, Studio MDHR will be giving away a console of the winners choice, which can be viewed in the tweet above. Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is available now as a downloadable expansion to the base game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. We got to play Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course at the Summer Game Fest Play Days and wrote about our hands on experience which you can check out here.
