It looks like we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for Cuphead’s final DLC The Delicious Last Course. Studio MDHR announced on Twitter that the final episode has been delayed once again, this time into 2021. The Delicious Last Course was originally planned to launch in 2019 but was pushed back to 2020 with no specific date. If the studio was going to release the DLC before the end of the year, they’d only have a little more than a month left to do so.
In the wake of the ongoing global pandemic affecting so many, we have made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course. For our wonderful Cuphead community, we’ve prepared a letter from Studio MDHR founders Chad & Jared Moldenhauer to share more. pic.twitter.com/XiU57Wcn1y

As you can see in the tweet above, the reasoning for the delay is due to the ongoing difficulties of developing new content during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Studio MDHR states that working with the worldwide effects of the pandemic has been “extremely challenging.” They also mentioned that they are only committed to releasing The Delicious Last Course when they feel that it’s ready, and not something that is rushed “We’ve made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead community the way we feel it should.”
Studio MDHR isn’t the only developer to feel the sting of working through the pandemic. Nearly every single company in the gaming industry has been affected in one way or another, especially gaming conventions that are planned year-round. While they didn’t’ give us a release date, it’s still refreshing to know that the studio is still working on The Delicious Last Course. Cuphead launched in 2017 and was critically acclaimed for its art style and challenging/fair combat. The game sold more than 2 million copies in just a few months after it initially launched.
