Crystal Dynamics To End Support For Marvel’s Avengers In September

Marvel’s Avengers has remained one of the most lackluster Marvel games among most fans in recent memory, despite its slow climb out of its disastrous launch in 2020. However, after two and a half years of ongoing updates, Crystal Dynamics is ready to pull the plug. The development studio announced its plans to end support for the game earlier today on its official website. According to the update post, official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023. After the upcoming update 2.8 on March 31, 2023, no more content will be added to Marvel’s Avengers. However, single and multiplayer gameplay will still be available for players. According to Crystal Dynamics, the decision to end game support was made alongside “their partners.

The studio expressed their sadness and gratitude towards Marvel’s Avengers player base in the announcement.

“We know this is disappointing news as everyone in our community has such a connection to these characters and their stories,” said Crystal Dynamics. “We’re so, so grateful that you came on this adventure with us. Your excitement for Marvel’s Avengers – from your epic Photo Mode shots to your threads theorizing who our next Heroes would be, to your Twitch streams – has played a large part in bringing this game to life.”

Final balance updates for Marvel’s Avengers will occur alongside Update 2.8, including closing the cosmetics Marketplace. Credits for the Marketplace will not be purchasable, and credit balances will be converted into in-game resources. Additionally, the content within the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment will be free to players, consisting of outfits, takedowns, emotes, and nameplates from March 31 onwards.

Those who want to gain access to the upcoming free content should obtain the game before September 30th. Digital copies of Marvel’s Avengers will remain purchasable until then, while physical copies will remain while the supply lasts. All upcoming changes will apply to Marvel’s Avengers Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus versions as well.
