Bloober Team, of Silent Hill 2 Remake fame, has showcased their latest title; Another third person survival horror game known as Cronos: The New Dawn in a brand new gameplay reveal trailer.  Gematsu shares that title blends Eastern European brutalism and retro-futurist technology. Cronos: The New Dawn is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Sometime this year, 2025.

Cronos: The New Dawn is set in two distinct time periods; a post apocalyptic wasteland and future as well as 1980’s era Poland. You assume the role of the Traveler, an agent who works for the collective set on a mission to travel to 1980’s Poland set on extracting key individuals who died during a cataclysmic event transforming humanity into monstrous beings known as the Orphans.

In an interview hosted over at GamesRadar+, they interviewed Co-directors Wojciech Piejko and Jacek Zięba, allowing them to share some of Cronos: The New Dawn’s inspirations. Piejko Said  “We are also inspired by Dark Souls games, so we are sometimes putting traps in a level to change the pace. On the outside you run, and now running [inside], it’s not the best idea. Of course, we are not wanting to be bad game masters so you can spot all the mines if you pay attention.”

A new gameplay mechanic revealed in the trailer is that downed enemies won’t stay down for long, if you do not burn them they will merge with existing enemies. Enemies will merge into faster stronger versions of themselves, gaining additional abilities. The game includes work from an award winning composer Arkadiusz Reikowski with work on The Medium and Silent Hill 2.

Bloober Team is at it again with yet another ambitious venture into third person survival horror. With the title drawing clear inspiration from classics like Resident Evil Remake, with the need to dispose of enemy bodies it will be interesting to see this mechanic in a modern light. Bloober Team has won audiences this past year with Silent Hill 2, and if all goes well they may do it again with Cronos: The New Dawn.
