A group composed of former Fortnite leadership have banded together to form Big DIstraction; The studio has released an announcement trailer for their cooperative roguelite action game known as LORT. Gematsu reports that the new title will launch for PC in Q4 2025.
The world of LORT is set in a chaotic and absurdist fantasy themed world. Its biomes are composed of procedurally generated locales, including forest and snowy peaks. Your hero is also a procedurally generated character.
Shared in the Gematsu press release, studio Big DIstraction shares that “We are a group of internet-raised game devs who got tired of the AAA industry consistently letting down players and developers,” and that “Everyone at our company plays games, is part of the culture, and just wants more experiences where we can have fun with our friends in a lower stress, highly co-operative environment. LORT is our first project as a team and we are excited to get our game into player’s hands in Q4 2025, less than two years since we started development.”
In LORT, players can play cooperatively with up to eight players where you’ll battle, loot, and stack power-ups. Combat features combos as you can swap between swords, wands, bows, guns. Power-ups can be mixed and matched, stacked, and there are at least 100 variations. LORT features ‘God Run’ mode where you’ll receive peak power-ups and be increasingly overpowered. LORT also features customizable quests where you can select enemies, locations and bosses.
LORT, created by former AAA-development staff members, aims to bring a chaotic and player friendly experience to PC. By expanding on the cooperative elements, and freedom in how the player chooses to play the game, Big DIstraction may be able to reach fans of roguelites as well as fantasy games. We’ll have to see what Big DIstraction has in store for us, come Q4.
