On July 13th, 2021, the popular war simulation game came blasting its way back into the spotlight. After more than eight years since the last release in the series, Company of Heroes 3 is set to release late in the year 2022. With a lot for fans to look forward to, Company of Heroes 3 is sure to catch the attention of many new and returning players.
Company of Heroes 3 will follow a similar premise as its predecessors. Gameplay will be based on a series of strategies that the player puts together by combining a variety of military troops and technical commands in order to overcome a series of enemy troops and obstacles in order to win the war. Set within the era of World War II, Company of Heroes 3 will follow the American and British assault against the Nazi-occupied Mediterranean coast, specifically North Africa and Italy. More gameplay sequences can be seen in the announcement and gameplay trailers.
Following the theme of merging the old with the new, developers at Relic Entertainment and Sony have strived to combine original in-game mechanics with new programs. One new exciting mechanic for both new and returning players is the inclusion of a Tactical Pause system. This gameplay mechanic will allow players to freeze the game during combat scenarios and reevaluate their battle strategy. While on pause, players can redesignate their troops to maximize their strategy.
Breaching, another new mechanic coming to Company of Heroes 3, will allow players to better utilize infantry squads and gives smaller units a chance to take a step into glory. But don’t worry; for all you fans of total annihilation with artillery and tanks, Company of Heroes 3 will also put into action a new destruction system to enhance in-game explosion graphics and sound effects. And, alongside all of these epic new battle systems, Company of Heroes 3 will include an expanded map and realistic in-game terrains and battlefields.
Now, many of you may be wondering, why a 2021 announcement for a game releasing in late 2022? Well, Relic Entertainment has already released a playable demo for Company of Heroes 3.
