Colorbound, a Puzzle Game Inspired by Aymara Culture, Is Set to Release October 12th

Today, the latest trailer for the upcoming indie title, Colorbound, was just released. After the release date was pushed back in August, some had been wondering when the game’s new release date would be announced, leading to a showcase that revealed new puzzles, story elements, and a release date just a month away. As with many puzzle games, Colorbound, developed by Panpipe Studio and published by Whitehorn Games, focuses on one central theme for the majority of its obstacles, forcing players to use colors and learn what each one does in order to progress.

The new trailer begins with the main character, Anku, speaking with his grandmother. The game’s Steam page reveals that the boy’s grandfather recently passed away after a life of being a famous musician. From there, Anku will set out on a journey across a wide landscape to find the old band to keep his loved one’s memory alive. The characters and world draw inspiration from Aymara culture of the Andes, using traditional art styles to inform the sprites found throughout the game.

The trailer also shows a few new ways in which the key mechanics of the game can be used to progress. Anku will have access to the ability to switch the color of the screen’s background, sometimes turning certain objects invisible and allowing him to pass through. The colors can also affect both him and other objects, leading them to have reversed gravity, or to allow them to be pushed to create climbable platforms. Each puzzle is made up of one screen, allowing each to be carefully assessed before players try a solution.

Colorbound presents itself as a calm game with a cohesive premise and a heartfelt story. How Anku’s journey to reunite his grandfather old band will end will be for players to discover when the game releases on October 12th.
