The cast of Street Fighter V continues to grow as Capcom announces that Cody will be the next DLC fighter in the game. Fans of the series will recognize Cody from a number of Capcom franchises. Cody was first introduced in the side-scrolling beat em up game, Final Fight, way back in 1989.
Since then, he has been featured in other Capcom games, and most prominently the Street Fighter Alpha series. Cody was given new life when he was reintroduced in the updated and critically acclaimed Super Street Fighter IV. So, it isn’t much a surprise that Cody is being brought back into the fold with Street Fighter V Arcade Editon, and with a new look to boot.
You can check out the announcement trailer here:
In the trailer (with some live action performed by NJPW star Kenny Omega), we can see that Cody’s first V-Trigger uses his trademark knife for extra damage, while his second V-Trigger utilizes his lead pipe and rock throws. His Critical Art is his signature Tornado Uppercut, where he punches you into the air and a tornado forms around the velocity of the punch.
Cody looks a little different since he defeated the Mad Gear Gang. He is now Mayor of Metro City, succeeding the popular Mike Haggar, and establishing a newfound peace for everyone. While it is strange to see Cody in a suit, their will be alternate costumes available for him to use. Cody is the fourth fighter to be added for Season 3 of Street Fighter V which already includes Sakura, Blanka, Falke, G, and Sagat. No price was announced but chances are that he will be $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money (In game currency). If you want all of the Season 3 fighters in one bundle, you can purchase them in the Season 3 Character Pass for $29.99.
Cody will be available to download for Street Fighter V Arcade Edition on June 26.
