Bandai Namco Studios has introduced a sequel to their post-apocalyptic action RPG, known as Code Vein II. Seen at this year’s Summer Game Fest, the trailer opens on a new protagonist locked in combat with an armored warrior.
Code Vein II is set in a crumbling world where the Revenants, that is, the last of humanity’s existence is left uncertain. Players will assume the role of a Revenant Hunter guided by a girl named Lou; She can traverse time and rewrite events. Your goal is to revisit the past to alter the destinies of the Revenants.
The protagonist clashes with undead foes, summoning possible enhancements to his weaponized arm. We briefly see another potential main character, a female Revenant with an exposed heart wound who opens a portal to summon a massive flying creature. “…Wounds. And only for our world is promised oblivion” can be heard in the trailer.
Gameplay showcases the protagonist’s ability to slash, leap, parry, roll, block, perform aerial combos, cast ice, summon spires, ride a motorcycle, wield a massive hammer, and overwhelm enemies with their beast-like armaments. Enemies are outfitted with guns, thick armor, and heavy weapons. Players will extract blood from enemies to gain new abilities, swap ‘Blood Codes’ or classes, and customize combat using weapons known as Jails. Explorations span two eras, including boss fights and story partners who will join you in battle.
Code Vein II is set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
