For those who have been eagerly waiting to play Valheim since it was announced at the PC Gaming Show 2020, there is some good news that came out today. After waiting for over six months, Coffee Stain Publishing and Iron Gate have announced that Valheim is finally coming to Steam for early access. So, prepare to gear up and set sail soon to explore the mythological land of Valheim.
Valheim is a multiplayer Viking game where players will have to craft and explore in order to survive this “procedurally-generated purgatory.” Much of this world is heavily influenced by Norse mythology. After crafting the basic supplies, players will be tasked with taking down Odin’s hordes of creatures across the lands. Players can build and upgrade their own boat as they sail across Valheim. A big aspect of this game is the challenging fighting system, which is heavily focused on blocking and dodging, as well as becoming familiar with the many weapon options available. These include anything from swords to axes and more. And as seen from the aforementioned trailer that was recently released earlier today, players can expect to die over and over again in their quest for glory. However, you will not have to do this alone as Valheim supports multiplayer sessions as well as servers for the more permanent Viking gameplay.
If you are interested in participating in the early access, it will be available on February 2 on Steam. While there is not specific date for the early access to wrap up, the developers do expect it to last at least a year while they add new items to craft and monsters to fight. However, as of right now, the solo and multiplayer modes are fully functional and ready to play in February. To receive up to date news you can join the newsletter here.
