Co-Op Raids Coming to Mortal Kombat 11

Two days ago, during Kombat Kast, it was confirmed that something new was coming to Mortal Kombat 11. In the video, it was revealed that in the next patch Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to participate in co-op Team Raids. Team Raids will change the way players face bosses in Mortal Kombat 11.

Team Raids change the way a 1v1 match will play out. Instead of three players occupying the same screen and fighting the boss together, each player will occupy their respective screen alone while the boss will occupy all three screens and take damage from all three players. In other words, Team Raids are made up of three individual battles taking place at the same time, with each player working together to defeat the same boss with the same health bar across three screens. Each fighter will share a pool of five lives and must communicate in order to ensure that everyone wins, making boss battles a communal effort.

According to IGN, the developer of Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm has stated that in order to increase the chance of victory, players must make careful preparation of their character to give them a fighting chance. Raid matches will allow players to complete challenges in order to either apply a buff to their character, or a debuff to the boss. However, this only works if players complete the challenge within the given time limit, encouraging players to work together like in other MMO’s.

NetherRealm also confirmed back in August that the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker, as well as several other characters such as Sindel, and the Terminator model T-800 will be entering the arena in the next Kombat Pack. The release date of the next patch is currently unknown, however it will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
