Cities: Skylines 2 is not at the performance the developers were hoping to meet, ahead of the release next week on Tuesday. Per a post on the Paradox Forum regarding mods and performance, the developers for Cities: Skylines 2 wanted to provide players with “transparency” after the minimum and recommended specs were released.
“Cities: Skylines II is a next-gen title, and naturally, it demands certain hardware requirements. With that said, while our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the best experience possible, we have not achieved the benchmark we targeted.”
“We will continually improve the game over the coming months, but we also want to manage expectations on performance for the coming release. Our ambition is for Cities: Skylines II to be enjoyed by as many players as possible, and we’re committed to ensuring it reaches its full potential.”
It’s rather unheard of for any game developers to admit that their game will launch with noticeable issues, though the devs were apt to note this in full transparency. Recent years have seen numerous studios move release dates back, typically stating similar jargon that the game has not met their expected goals for release.
Only a few weeks ago Paradox announced that the console version for Cities: Skylines 2 was delayed until next year.
With Cities: Skylines 2 being one highly anticipated title in a month already filled with other high-profile releases, it would be too late for Cities: Skylines 2 developers to only now push the release back further.
Cities: Skylines 2 is set to be released October 24th for PC.
