Publisher Arc Games and developer Snapshot Games have announced that their third person co-op action strategy game Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainoids will release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. respectively on Steam and Epic games store. Gematsu shares that Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids will feature full cross-platform support and that a demo will be available on PC from February 24 to March 3.

Chip ‘n Clawz  vs. The Brainoids is set on Earth currently being invaded by The alien Brainoids to gather the resource of Brainium. You’ll assume the role of Chip, Clawz or both to protect the planet and repel the invaders by building bases, commanding minions and joining them in battles. Chip ‘n Claws features boss battles and multiplayer battles with or against friends. PvP matches are featured with the ability to drop into someone else’s campaign. Certain collectibles come within comic book format featuring plot details about the invaders as well as blueprints for new weapons.

Julian Gallop CEO of Snapshot Games was interviewed by Rock Paper Shotgun. In the interview he commented on Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids change in tone and inspiration for it’s enemies “There’s way too much grim, dark, horror, post-apocalyptic, zombie, whatever stuff going on at the moment in video games. The change in tone is obviously very deliberate indeed,”referring to Snapshot Games previous work Phoenix Point, Gallop goes on to say “The game is quite satirical, though. The aliens are essentially a kind of a dysfunctional corporation, and they have all the issues and backstabbing and infighting that corporations have. Mars Attacks is definitely an inspiration”

It may bode well for Snapshot games, to see this developer  take their property and bend conventions by making them more lighthearted and aim at a broad audience. This may Chip ‘n Claws opportunity to capitalize in the strategy genre.
