Children of Morta Delayed into 2019

The community-driven game Children of Morta has pushed its release to an undisclosed date in 2019. After the expectation of a late 2018 release, Dead Mage has announced that the delay is the best move for the title’s end product. The game had previously been announced and gameplay displayed at PAX. Check out the gameplay trailer here:

Children of Morta is a simplistic yet beautiful looking game that focuses on the Bergson family. They’ve cared for Mount Morta for many years as its designated guardians. Unfortunately, an unknown corruption has found its way to the mountain, which has transformed the landscape into an environment for all sorts of monsters. Players must take control of the Bergson family and fight through the many evils that now plague Mount Morta. The characters have unique storylines and interactions with one another, making the individuals stand out from one another.  Each family member has a set of abilities to fill his or her combat role, which can range from up close combat with swords or damage dealing from a distance with magic or bows. All of these will help cleanse the mountain and lead players through procedurally generated dungeons.

The CEO of Dead Mage, Amir Fassihi, recognizes the disappointment the community may have with the announcement of Children of Morta’s delay, but states the importance of this decision. “The main challenge has been integrating the main story arc inside a repeatable rogue-like setting and also making sure the family feel is there to let the gamer experience an adventure alongside a family of guardians,” he says. Storytelling is one of the main facets of any successful game so it’s no surprise that this decision has been made. After PAX Prime feedback, the developers pushed the release back on all platforms. “There is huge potential for this gem and we know how to fulfill it, so some things are already put in motion.”

Children of Morta will be available in 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam Store.
