Following a nearly 30-year career at CD Projekt Red, Joint CEO and President Marcin Iwinski announced his leave from his position earlier today in a letter to the public. By the end of 2022, Iwinski will be stepping away from his role and instead pursuing the role of Chairman of The Supervisory Board at CD Projekt Red, leaving his previous duties at the hands of his colleagues. The announcement came after CD Projekt Red revealed their future plans and projects for the company.
In his farewell letter, Iwinski expressed optimism for the company he helped create and his future beyond it.CD Projekt Red’s growth is something Iwinski expressed disbelief when looking back on his career within the company. “…back when Michal Kicinski and I founded the company, I don’t think either of us would have been able to imagine this incredible journey, not even in our wildest dreams,” said Iwinski.
As such Iwinski is excited to see where CD Projekt will go next, with over 1200 people making up its company worldwide, he’s seen the hard work the ever-growing pool of talent within the company has created over the years. Keeping in mind CD Projekt’s new strategy to propel the company into new heights, Iwinski made it clear that he would be working with the company, but in a different role.
Iwinski plans to remain a major shareholder at the company, and with his new role as CD Projekt Red’s Chairman of The Supervisory Board, remains dedicated to supporting the company’s management board. The letter ended with Iwinski sending his thanks to CD Projekt Red’s employees, business partners, and the public at large. In the wake of the controversial launch of CD Projekt Red’s latest AAA title Cyberpunk 2077, which has recently gained popularity following extensive patches and a Netflix animated series, Iwinski’s leave comes at an interesting time in the company’s history.
