Prior to the start of Gamescom 2026, CD PROJEKT RED released a new video on social media talking about their plans for the show this year. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will be officially revealed after being reported and announced earlier this year. CD PROJEKT RED also provided an update on the highly-anticipated next chapter of The Witcher series; CD PROJEKT RED is targeting a 2028 release window for The Witcher IV.

Michal Nowakowski, Joint Chief Executive Officer, told fans, players , and members of the CD PROJEKT RED community to “watch Opening Night Live, and come visit us on the gamescom show floor. We’re going big this year with something very special: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past.

Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

“We have a lot of expansion to show off, including a taste of its dark story, and the new content it will bring. So join us at gamescom if you can, where we have a huge booth in Hall 8 and a team ready to show off the first full look at Songs of the Past.” CD PROJEKT RED will have special REDstreams every day of the show where a surprise or two might be shared.

The Witcher IV is the start of a new saga where players take on the role of Ciri, a professional monster slayer, and embark on a journey through a brutal dark-fantasy world.

“Our team here at CD PROJEKT RED HQ is hard at work on brand new saga, one with Ciri at the helm,” Nowakowski said. “We have more than 500 incredibly talented developers working to create something special for you. The Witcher 4 features a huge and immersive open world, intense and action-packed gameplay, and a deep impactful story that we hope will stay with you for a long time. Simply put, this is our biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date. Now I know you’re eager to learn when it’s coming. That’s the question we’re hearing from you all the time. So while we’re not showing The Witcher 4 at the event and we’re not ready to share an exact date, I can tell you this: The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window.”
