Dice Hoarder, a Dice-Sorting Simulator, Has Been Announced With a Trailer

With their ability to simulate experiences from real life, video games can help explore hobbies that players otherwise wouldn’t be able to. This is certainly the case with the newly announced Dice Hoarder, a game where the player has access to a room full of an enormous number of collectable dice. The developer of the title, DieCorp Games, classify it as a new entry in the upcoming genre of “sorting” games, which have been growing in popularity recently. The announcement came with a trailer featuring gameplay and hints at a darker secret.

Dice Hoarder promises gameplay that is exactly what the name would imply. Players will sort through a room full of dice scattered in boxes and all over the floor. According to the Steam store page, the goal will be to fill every seven-piece dice sets by looking at the side number, material, and color of each die. Time passes as players get closer to their goal, removing any time constraints or pressure and allowing players to focus on creating the most efficient sorting method at their own pace.

In addition to the large collection, Dice Hoarder also offer players unique tools for sorting their dice that is unlocked as players get closer to completion. These skills are gained through collecting floppy disks that appear each day, with one example giving players the ability to pull missing dice from a collection directly into their hand. The most ominous feature of the game is saved for last in the trailer, with multiple warnings given to never enter the basement. This mystery is kept alongside the mystery of who hired the player and where the floppy disks come from.

Many tasks that are commonly considered boring can be made fun through the addition of gameplay mechanics. The initial trailer for Dice Hoarder has interested many potential players, eager to test the mechanics when the game releases on PC.
