CD Projekt Debuts Gameplay Trailer in Final Episode of Night City Wire Cyberpunk 2077 series

The final episode of the Night City Wires series dropped on November 20 to advertise the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 developed by CD Projekt. The series popped up in June 2020 after the game was delayed from its original release in April. With a new release date of December 10, players finally got to see an official gameplay trailer and other behind-the-scenes footage with Keanu Reeves. CD Projekt finally releases some background about Keanu Reeve’s character, Johnny Silverhand, and the process of motion capture recording. Reeves reveals that players have the ability to shape Johnny Silverhand’s personality through the choices in the game. Developers also state that Johnny Silverhand serves as a co-protagonist with V, the mercenary outlaw which players will be controlling, and both will have their own stories, quests, and missions to complete together.

In the Score and Music portion of the episode, the music department talks about how they crafted almost seven and a half hours of music for each quest in-game. Their inspiration came from raves, 90s vibes, and IDM to shape Night City’s sound. Since the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack features music from artist Run the Jewels, Rat Boy, and more, CD Projekt created a “streamer mode” that replaces the soundtracks with non-copyright music. With the ongoing struggle between Twitch streamers and the DMCA, Hollie Bennet, U.K. Head of Communication, says in this latest episode:

“With the new mode, you’ll be able to disable a small number of selected tracks, which could cause some issues, replacing them with a different song.”

This will be huge for streamers who plan to stream this game on Twitch or any other platform. This option will be automatic for console players, but PC players have to manually turn this option on (see here for Cyberpunk 2077 PC requirements). CD Projekt also launched a 6-track EP for Cyberpunk 2077 that is now available on various streaming services to prepare for the launch.

The video presentation ends with a five-minute gameplay video to get players hyped for the delayed title. Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to be released on December 10, 2020 barring any complications for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and the new consoles as well. Google Stadia will also be launching the game.
