Carrion Creeps onto Mobile This Halloween

Carrion is a “reverse horror” game developed by Phobia Game Studio and published by Devolver Digital. In the game, players take on the role of a monstrous creature of unknown origin. They are tasked with escaping a research facility, consuming scientists and guards along the way. The mysterious monster evolves as it hunts down its captors, acquiring new abilities and accessing previously restricted areas.

The game became a standout title in the indie scene, selling over 200,000 copies shortly after its launch to Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam, on July 23. Carrion quickly gained “hundreds of thousands” of players through Xbox Game Pass, according to Devolver Digital.

Soon mobile gamers will also get the chance to experience Carrion’s unique gameplay, and just in time for Halloween! Devolver Digital announced the game’s arrival to mobile devices through their official announcement trailer on October 18, reiterating the game’s reverse horror mechanics and showcasing its bloody graphics.

The game is a try-for-free experience, giving players the opportunity to try the game before making any commitments. If interested, they can unlock the full experience with a single in-app purchase. This will provide them with Carrion in its entirety, along with its DLC, The Greatest Time of Year. Devolver Digital assures players in both its announcement trailer and Google Play Store description, that once the official payment is made through a single in-app purchase, players will never have to worry about advertisements or paywalls.

No gems, hearts or virtual currency required!

Although no official release date was announced by Phobia Game Studio or Devolver Digital, the game is currently listed with an October 31 release date on the App Store. The mobile release of Carrion, with its with its bright red tentacles and gory graphics, is sure to make this Halloween delightfully spooky. Devolver Digital encourages players to pre-register on both iOS and Android devices, announcing the option via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

While many video games are available only to those who can afford expensive consoles and computers, mobile games are designed for the average person.
