Following in the footsteps of other popular Nintendo Switch titles, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is the next game to receive VR support via the Nintendo Labo VR kit on the Nintendo Switch. According to Nintendo of Europe, the new VR features are now available for Captain Toad in a free software update.
With the update, players can view the course selection screen in 360 degrees and “explore four courses in immersive VR.” Players can get new perspectives of the stages to see what’s around different obstacles and also ride in a mine cart to find treasure.
Nintendo first released the Labo VR kit back in April. It comes with six separate Toy-Con creations and some VR mini games for players to try out the new feature for themselves as they wait for VR support for bigger titles.
The first major Switch games to receive VR support were The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, two of the most popular Switch titles since the system’s launch. Super Mario Odyssey had new mini adventures to explore in immersive VR while the entirety of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could be experienced in VR. After those games, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate received VR support earlier this summer, which allowed players to watch CPU matches or fight CPU characters in single player mode in VR, so they could see the stage from new angles.
Captain Toad has been out on the Switch and the Nintendo 3DS for about year now, after its initial launch in December 2014 on the Wii U. Players must navigate through puzzle-like stages as Captain Toad to uncover different treasures hidden behind various obstacles.
