Capcom States Their Engine Is Ready For Next Gen Hardware

It’s not a big secret that the next generation of consoles are currently in the works. This year at E3, Microsoft is expected to show off their new next gen hardware during their briefing. And even though Sony has been awfully quiet this year they have subtly dropped a few tidbits of information about their next console the PlayStation 5.

Nintendo has also come out of the wood works when rumors of them revealing new models for the Switch made their way across the internet. They did confirm that they are working on new hardware however, that also stated that they had no plans to show any of the sort off at E3 this year. Even so with all these developments and further progression of consoles one has to wonder how developers and their titles are adjusting to the upscaling of hardware. Well, there is one developer whom believes they currently have the best game engine to make the adjustment from current to next generation gaming.

Game engines can have may difficulties when it comes to gaps between console generations however Capcom stated within a recent earnings report that their RE Engine which is used to make the Resident Evil titles was designed specifically to be able to conform next generation consoles.

“The games we developed using the RE Engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind; as such, we view the RE Engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation,” management stated. Capcom is definitely seeing this as a big advantage in terms of their transition to the new consoles since as they developed this engine early on to be adaptable to the next generation.
