The Tokyo Game Show opened up this week with Capcom’s online program. The prerecorded stream showcased new projects, collections, and remasters of beloved classics over the course of the hour it was live.
The presentation started with new information on their fighting games. In Street Fighter 6 news, Capcom showcaseded Terry from Fatal Fury becoming the first guest character in Street Fighter history. They also confirmed that Mai from SNK will be joining the cast as well as a returning Elena, both scheduled to be released in 2025. Along with Terry’s release, Street Fighter 6 will also be receiving two new game features. V-Rival will allow players to play against specific characters and skill levels via online data and players will also now be able to control online and offline replays to study their matches.
Capcom also showcased the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 which will include 8 classic games. Some of the titles in the collection include Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Project Justice, Power Stone 2, and will include online play. The collection is set to release in 2025.
MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is out digitally on Switch, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam and will be available on Xbox One in 2025. The collection containing 7 classic games will also be receiving a physical copy for the Switch and PlayStation on November 22nd, 2024.
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection has received sharper visuals, new quality-of-life features and an in-game gallery. The collection is now available on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Microsoft and Steam. There is also a free Miles Edgeworth skin available in an Among Us crossover to celebrate the collection.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is digitally available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, and PC via Steam. The game has received some new features and will be getting a physical release on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 starting on November 8, 2024.
The major highlight for Capcom’s presentation came from their extended cut of the new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer. In the trailer, it was revealed that a fan favorite monster named Yian Kut-Ku has made its return to the series. Guided by the Hunter’s handler, Alma, we are taken into a vast and living world with rich biodiversity and ever-changing weather. Alma also explained how Hunters can rise to challenges like the difficult terrain by using a vast array of weaponry, crafting, and connecting with allies on and offline.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available for preorder on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, and PC via Steam with a release date set for February 28th, 2025.
