Capcom Postpones Street Fighter 6 Tournaments After the Discovery of a Game Breaking Bug

In the wake of their latest “small” patch for Street Fighter 6, Capcom have overhauled much of the game and many of the characters have been nerfed, buffed, or surprisingly left untouched despite how game breaking they are (Rashid), unfortunately the latest patch seemed to add some game breaking of its own, with the latest patch causing a bug regarding the interaction between Perfect Parries and the buffer window of special moves.

Basically, the bug means that when the opponent Perfect Parries you (which happens very very often in this game) and knocks you down after doing so, your buffer window vanishes for several frames. This means that players can’t wake up super, wake up OD DP, or wakeup Drive Reversal. Basically, if you get perfect parried and knocked down, you are at your opponent’s mercy for the next second or two, and in a game as aggressive as Street Fighter 6, those two seconds are probably going to lose you the game.

Capcom has become aware of the issue and have since canceled two major tournaments that were meant to happen this week, the CPT US West and CPT Brazil finals, as this bug would have sullied the gameplay and would have been abused to high heaven had the tournaments be allowed to continue as is, and several tournaments have also been canceled.

Capcom is no doubt on the case trying to fix this bug, as it’s not only tournaments that are suffering from this, players in Ranked or Battle Hub are likely scratching their heads as to why their wakeup DP didn’t come out and just left them hanging to lose the round. With Street Fighter basically on hold for now, you could instead watch the Tekken World Tour Global Finals which are happening this week instead or beat up SiRN Bison in Street Fighter 6’s Battle Hub.
