Call of Duty: Warzone Anticipated to Arrive on Mobile Platforms According to a New Job Listing

Activision recently announced that their online battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone will be created to fit the format of an all-new AAA mobile experience. Through a blog post announcement, the team at Activision has posted a job listing for production roles in order to “deliver the next world-class mobile gaming experience.” Considering the number of fresh job openings from engineering, design, art, marketing, and much more, Warzone on mobile does not appear to be releasing anytime soon.  This isn’t the first job listing they have posted for which hinted at the formation of a new Call of Duty mobile game.  Back in September 2020, a job advert for an executive producer of features on “a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise” before being taken offline. Again in June 2021, another job listing was confirmed to reveal the formation of an internal mobile studio that was currently working on an unannounced entry in the Call of Duty Series.

The Warzone mobile port is being developed by several internal studios at Activision Blizzard such as Digital Legends who previously released a mobile adaptation of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, as well as the developer Beenox who worked in conjunction with Activision on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered and other titles in the series. They also mention job opportunities with other studios, Solid State Studios and Demonware.

This would be the second time Activision brings Call of Duty to mobile. In October of 2019, Call of Duty: Mobile was released free-to-play for Android and iOS. By 2021, the game surpassed 500 million downloads and surpassed $1.5 billion in global lifetime player spending since its launch, showing how successful Call of Duty is when introduced to a mobile platform.

On top of developing a new mobile game, Activision released a blog post last month that came with news of a “new Warzone experience” that is set to release this year. Activision prepares its players for “a massive evolution of battle royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode” along with a new engine that powers “both the new Call of Duty game release and Warzone.” Warzone coming to mobile will be entering a competitive field with Riot Games’ Valorant and EA’s Battlefield on the way to mobile ports as well.
