Call of Duty Modern Warfare and its battle royale, Warzone, was expecting a new update. That said update has been delayed to an unknown date. The update was initially scheduled for March 24th at 23:00 PDT which was unusual to begin with. News of the delay came from Infinity Ward’s Twitter account.
The update is explained in-depth in a blog post. The Modern Warfare side was receiving a new character named Talon, who has a dog named Indiana, and new game modes, designed for 6v6 matches. A new multiplayer map called Khandor Hideout was planned to release with the update as well. Khandor Hideout is a medium-sized map designed with long-range sightlines, with a central warehouse for close-quarters combat. Warzone will be getting a four new weapons added, some were pulled from the base game: MK 14 EBR 725 shotgun, MK2 Carbine, and the .50 GS. The weapons will be available in both common and uncommon varieties. The final addition for the new update is two new blueprints for legendary weapons.
The new challenge for Warzone has been extended in lieu of the update. It is called the Trap Master challenge, which focuses on equipping players with tools that focuses on gathering intelligence and ambushing other players. The Trap Master challenge will be ended on March 25th. The Endowment Defender Pack is coming back to Modern Warfare and Warzone. Any money made with the Endowment Defender Pack will be given to Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit organization that supports veterans find civilian occupations and reintegrate into non-military society.
Warzone has skyrocketed in its popularity since its launch. The battle royale surpassed 30 million players in 10 days since its launch. It is unclear if there will be a sequel to Modern Warfare, but there is an older trilogy of the Modern Warfare brand to build from.
