Fans awaiting Call Of Duty: Black Ops III that haven’t yet made the jump to next gen consoles have a bit of bad news today. Activision announced today that copies of the game for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 won’t include a campaign mode.
Activision gives the technological limitations as the reason for this departure.
“The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”
Not only will Xbox 360 and Playstation 4 owners miss out on the campaign but the publisher also announced that those gamers will miss other new content such as the Weapon Paint Shop and the inclusion of eSports tools.
Last generation console games will still receive multiplayer and the new zombie mode ““Shadows of Evil” stylized after 1940’s film-noir.
Copies of the game for last gen consoles will be priced down from $59.99 to $49.99 and will come with the original Call Of Duty: Black Ops as a digital download.
So far fans have expressed much disappointment over the recent news in the comments section as well as giving the announcement a 2 star rating at the current time of publishing. No resolution has been made for fans who have preordered the game at its original price. Some fans say they feel $49.99 is still too high a price for excluding the single player content and some have even gone as far as demanding their money back
Beenox and Mercenary Technology are currently the developers of the last generation version while the series’ main studio developer Treyarch is at work on next gen versions.
