A new update is about to hit Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Operation Absolute Zero is being described as a “massive new series of content” for all three of the game’s modes including a new specialist, weapons, map updates, and more. Operation Absolute Zero is set for release tomorrow, December 11, on PlayStation 4 with a release on PC and Xbox One at a later date.
A new specialist, aptly named Zero, will be added and available to use in the game’s classic multiplayer mode and the battle royale mode Blackout. In the game’s multiplayer mode, Zero will be able to distract and disrupt enemies via special hacking tools. Three new weapons will also be introduced into the game’s multiplayer mode. The Daemon 3XB SMG, SWAT RFT assault rifle, and Secret Santa melee weapon will be available via Contraband Tiers in the game’s Black Market. Players will also be able to use these new weapons immediately in the Blackjack’s Gun Game playlist and via weapon drops in Blackout mode. A new holiday event is also set to come to the game on December 13, and will allow players to unlock new seasonal items.
Blackout is getting some new winter themed updates to the map, while smoke trails are also added to better indicate where players are dropping. The biggest update though will be a new location named Hijacked, a luxury yacht based on a classic multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Black Ops II; it will be added to Blackout’s maps. Updates to Nuketown Island, Hydro Dam and Factory are set to come to the game too. The ARAV, a new armored vehicle, will also be added to the mode. Along with this, Blackout is getting an armor repair system, audio improvements, weapon balancing, and seasonal changes including festive throwable snowballs players can use.
Zombies mode is also getting three new updates. First, Daily Callings will provide new gameplay challenges and provide players with bonus XP and Nebulium Plasma after completion. Second, the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system will let players verify and share the results of their game online via a personalized code given at the end of each match as well as tracking a variety of stats. Finally, Daily Tier Skips will be available for Black Market progression as players will earn a bonus tier in the Black Market upon completing 15 rounds of Zombies a day. On December 13, the limited time Winter Calling event will start allowing players to unlock seasonal personalization rewards.
The Black Market is also getting an overhaul. The update will streamline the system and make unlocking tiers “simpler and more rewarding.” It will now feature 100 defined tiers with the ability to unlock new characters, weapons, items, cosmetics, and more.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best selling game of the year. The game also broke digital sales records for Activision upon release. You can check out the Operation Absolute Zero trailer below:
