With Halloween getting closer and closer, horror has been the focus of sales, updates, and events. And Call of Cthulhu is no different. Originally announced back in E3 of 2017, the story follows that of Chaosium’s table top RPG that, based on the original novel of the same name written by H.P. Lovecraft. Fans were excited to have the upcoming horror RPG-adventure come out, and soon enough the date was set for October 30, 2018. The day before Halloween.
So to get everyone hyped up just a little bit more, with the release date around the corner, Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio dropped the launch trailer just last night:
The video shows off more of the set-up for the story of Call of Cthulhu, while the E3 announcement trailer had shown off some in-game locations. We follow a young woman who is thrown into a terrible world, of her own mind or of the physical realm no one is entirely sure. We follow her until her inevitable death and the trailer ends with bringing forth Detective Pierce, our protagonist and playable character for the game.
If you look close enough during the madness of all different sorts of cult and creepy imagery, you can spot some of the monsters that will surely make grander and more frightening appearances in the game.
Players got the first look of the gameplay back in September, with the playable demo that showed off more of the mind-bending madness the game had in store. It also showed off the style of the game, less combat and more talking to people and choice-based mechanics. This is common for table-top RPGs and the game is definitely taking inspiration from that.
But now with the game coming out just in time for the spookiest day of the year, players will be able to experience the horrors, terrors, monsters, creepy images, and cults. The game will be officially available October 30, 2018 for $44.99 USD for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. So if you’re looking for some extra scares, this would be where to find them this Halloween season.
