Bungie Reveals Details for Destiny’s April Update

Destiny‘s April update will drop April 12, and Bungie has been teasing out its contents in three planned events, the second of which was livestreamed today.

For a quick recap – last week’s event focused on new playable content, which will include new bounties, quest lines, missions, and a new Strike featuring a boss named Malak. The Light Level cap will be increased to 335, the Prison of Elders co-op has been raised to level 41, and a new activity called “Challenge of the Elders” will create a score card that resets “on a weekly basis” – players who reach certain scores will earn prizes such as weapons and high-end armor.

This week’s event introduced us to some sick new gear – specifically, Taken-Themed. A full set of “Desolate Armor,” as its called, will unlock a “Shiver” emote. Below is the Warlock armor.

The Chroma customization feature will also be available to “select sets of gear and weapons,” and both of these gears will be found in Sterling Treasures.

Sterling Treasures can be obtained from the Postmaster each week after the weekly score reset mentioned above – players must complete one Level 41 Prison of Elders activity, and complete one match in the featured Weekly Crucible Playlist. They can also be purchased from Tess Everis in the Eververse Trading Company stores, but isn’t earning them so much more fun?

Their Twitch stream also showed off a Taken-style ship, a new ghost, and a Taken-style sword, along with the new HUD-free mode that will be available to players in the update, which turns off all on-screen icons.

Bungie is showcasing their new gear and weapons on Destiny‘s official Instagram – a video was also shared on the game’s Twitter, which shows off emotes, armor, weapons, and some combat snippets, and sums up the day’s announcements pretty well for 15 seconds.

The final event will stream April 6 – the previous event is archived on their Twitch channel.
