Bungie Responds to Destiny 2 Beta Feedback

The open beta for Destiny 2 has just become available today (its been available three days earlier for those who pre-ordered on PS4 and Xbox One), and already there has been a huge response from players. A lot of it has been very critical, with players pointing at the unwelcome change of certain classes and the confusing new gun loadout, among other things. Now, it seems developer Bungie has some civil words to say on this mass player response.

In recent blog post from Bungie, producer Jared Berbach has described the player response to the beta as “amazingly helpful” for the development team. He goes on to describe the importance of the beta test:

We had many updates to the original, but Destiny 2 is a brand-new game using brand new technology in order to deliver an awesome experience. This new technology needs a lot of testing.

The Destiny 2 beta has also been noted by some players as being much shorter than the first game’s beta. This seems to be due to the fact that Bungie wants to keep much of the game a secret, and given that the game is still in beta, it seems they won’t be sharing those details quite yet.

As Berbach said, “This grand experiment is ongoing, and we’re tracking every data-point and forum thread.” Hopefully, that means they’ll fix the Titan’s run speed.

The Destiny 2 beta is now open to everyone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and ends on July 23rd, so be sure to try it out for yourself this weekend. The full game is set to release September 6th for PS4 and Xbox One, and on PC October 24th.
