Bugsnax Arrives This November as a PlayStation 5 Launch Title

Bugsnax has gone gold and will officially release this November. The official Twitter account for Young Horses, the developer of Bugsnax, tweeted the release date news earlier today. The video game will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and the Epic Games store. According to another tweet from Young Horses, customers can pre-order the game on Epic Games today at 15 percent off.

Bugsnax was first introduced during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal back in June. During the showcase, many exciting games were presented to customers but none of them took the internet by storm the way Bugsnax did. The wholesome trailer showed off an adorable talking walrus and a catchy theme song by Kero Kero Bonito. However, viewers were left perplexed by its introduction: What were these talking animals doing? Why are they eating the half-snack, half-bugs? And most importantly, are these ‘Bugsnax’ sentient

Later on, Young Horses released a summary of the game. According to Bugsnax’s official website, players arrive on ‘Snaktooth Island’ and quickly find that their host, explorer Elizabert “Lizbert” Megafig, is missing.

“It’s up to you to solve the mysteries of Snaktooth Island: What happened to Lizbert? What are Bugsnax and where do they come from? But most of all, why do they taste SO GOOD?

Players will hunt and feed Bugsnax to the game’s characters while trying to solve the mystery of Lizbert’s disappearance. According to Polygon, when a Bugsnax is eaten it will change the appearances of a character, “into things like French fries and strawberries.”

Bugsnax will release the same day as Sony’s next-generation console on November 12th. This means the game will be joining Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles MoralesAstro’s Playroom and more in the growing list of PlayStation 5 launch titles. It will also launch on PS4 and exclusively on the Epic Games store for PC. The current price tag for Bugsnax is $24.99.
