Bugsnax, An Independent Adventure Game, Coming To Steam In 2022

Bugsnax, an adventure video game developed by independent studio Young Horses, will finally be making its way over to Steam for PC and Mac in 2022. This is big news considering the game has been an Epic Games Store PC exclusive for nine months. Young Horses relayed the exciting news to its fans via Twitter on August 12, stating that everyone can start adding Bugsnax to their wishlist via Steam.

Played in a first-person perspective, with gameplay comparisons to Pokémon SnapBugsnax is set on an island called Snaktooth. Snaktooth Island is home to half-bug, half-snack creatures known as the Bugsnax. Players are invited to the island by an explorer named Elizabert Megafig who will act as your guide upon arrival. The only problem is when you finally arrive at the foreign territory, Megafig will be nowhere in sight. You will soon discover that her campsite has been destroyed and her followers are scattered across the island–alone, scared, and hungry. It will be up to you to explore the island in an attempt to solve the mystery of Snaktooth Island while trying to find out what happened to Megafig and her followers.

As far as the game’s features go, there will be a lot for you as a young explorer to accomplish. With over 100 different Bugsnax species to discover, your character will have to try to hunt, capture, and even lure, with various contraptions, these small delicious creatures. In addition, making friends with the locals on the island is vital to your success as these individuals can help you in your mission to discover the secrets that bestow Snaktooth Island.

Kevin Zuhn, Bugsnax’s creative director, has also teased that there will be some “meaty news and a few juicy surprises to get people talkin about Bugsnax again later this year.” We don’t know exactly what that means yet, but it gives the impression that the developer is not quite done working on Bugsnax. This means that anything from a DLC to a sequel could be coming our way shortly.
